Thackeray Teaser Amused Twitteraties With Its First Look

The teaser of Thackeray, the upcoming biopic of Balasaheb Thackeray with Nawaz Uddin Siddiqui as the politician, has left twitteraties amused with its first look. The biopic will be directed by Abhijit Panse.

The life of iconic leader Balasaheb Thackeray is being penned by journalist and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut. The bilingual film will be shot in Hindi and Marathi and will be dubbed into English and various other languages worldwide.

Talking about Thackeray Sanjay Raut said, “Balasaheb Thackeray has given so much to the sons of the soil, to our state… to our country. The film aims to be fitting tribute, and is a magnum opus, a great biopic to suit his stature, the way he lived. The film will be shot in Marathi and Hindi and will be dubbed into English and various other languages worldwide.”

The teaser was released by mega star Amitabh Bachchan at the glittering launch function attended by Sanjay Raut and Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai on Thursday evening.

Terming Bal Thackeray as an unparalleled leader Sanjay Raut added that, “The fight against injustice towards our people… our state… and the sons of our soil is no less than the efforts of Mahatama Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak and Nelson Mandela. Balasaheb’s life was so dramatic that he ignited the society for justice, and for generations to come. He rewrote history of the city, the state and the nation with his brush strokes. This is a fitting tribute to the man who stood tallest.”

Nawaz Uddin Siddiqui was unable to attend the launch due to shooting in Mauritius but in a video message he said, “It’s truly a great day for me. I am fortunate to have got an opportunity to enact the role of such a great personality which any actor in the world would love to do. I am sure Balasaheb will inspire and bless me in this venture.”

However, twitteraties took a jibe on Nawaz Uddin playing the lead role, a Muslim actor to portray the life of the President of a party which carries the flag of Hindutva.

“Let’s hope none of the objection obsessed idiots take objection”, says a user on twitter.

The film is scheduled for release on January 23, 2019, the 93rd birth anniversary of Thackeray.
