Dr. Haati Aka Kavi Kumar Azad the famous character of the much-loved show, Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashama passed away today afternoon.
According to the sources Kumar Azad was unwell from last few days and going under treatment at Wokhardt Hospital at Mira Road. Last night he went into a coma and died due to a heart attack.
Hearing this news his family and co-stars of the show are in deep shock, the shoot of the show has been canceled.
Tarak Mehta is one of the longest running comedy show on Indian television. The team recently celebrated the achievement of 2500 episodes.
Kavi Kumar Azad used to play the character of Dr. Hansraj Haathi on the show. He was the friendly neighbor of Tarak Mehta in the Gokul Dhaam society shown in the show.
The show was featured in Guinness Book of World Records for ‘airing the highest number of episodes’ on television, both original and repeat.
The show’s producer Asit Kumar Modi in a statement asserts “We are very sad to inform loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azaad. He was playing the character of Dr. Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning. He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for the shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything.”
Besides the small screen, Azad also worked in films Like Amir Khan’s Mela and Funtoosh.
