Shah Rukh Khan will perform the Hockey World Cup Anthem in Odisha

The Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik announced on Monday that King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan will do the honors of immortalizing the anthem for all hockey lovers. He will soon arrive in the state and perform the anthem.

After the music composer AR Rahman shared the teaser video for the official track of the Men’s Hockey World Cup, On the very next day the Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik announced that Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan will soon arrive in the state to perform at the Hockey World Cup anthem in Odisha to immortalize the anthem for all the hockey lovers.

The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude on receiving the first ticket of the world cup and he is hoping that the fans across the world are excited to be the part of the event and also to explore the state.

The Chief Minister Patnaik stated in his tweet that “The promo of the #HWC2018 anthem #JayHindIndia has caught the imagination of all sports lovers and special thanks to @iamsrk who is coming to #Odisha to immortalize the #OdishaWorldCupAnthem created by @arrahman for all hockey fans. Thank you.”

Replying to the CM’s tweet SRK said that he is looking forward to visiting Odisha and it is everyone’s duty to promote the National Sport.

This time the Hockey world cup is scheduled to be held in the Capital City of Odisha, starting from November 28 and will conclude on December 16.

On Sunday, Rahman who has collaborated with lyricist Gulzar to compose the world cup anthem “Jai Hind India”, he gave a glimpse of the video on twitter. In this clip, AR Rahman and Shah Rukh Khan both are featured along with the Indian Hockey Team standing in the background. The video gives a glimpse of cultural dance forms of the state.

The Indian Hockey Team is drafted in Group C alongside Belgium, Canada, and South Africa. The Indian team will play their first match against South Africa on the 28th of November.

In total 16 countries are participating in the 14th Edition of the event. This is the third time that India is hosting Hockey World Cup after having it organized it in Mumbai in 1982 and in 2010 in Delhi.
