Significance &History of Independence Day

AS much is interesting and amazing Indian Independence day celebration looks, this is Genuine and justified because the overwhelming happiness is mandatory which was after around the 100 years of Indian slavery due to the rule of British in India. The History itself shows the pain the people of India went through and their sacrifices to see Independent India lies there.

The story of Colonization of India began back in the 16th century when the East India Company Came to the country for business establishment. Because of their cunning perspective and approach Merchants soon started to excise the Military and Administrative Control. And this Control over military and massive Administrative control they soon started to suppress and overpower the local kingdoms and ruled some parts of it. By 1757 they had full command and a complete foothold in many parts of the country.

But then the Unfair and Bias ruling widespread the resentment among the country people and the local Populaces started revolting against them. And because of this, the first complete organized revolt took place in the year 1857 against the British Rule.

Even a group of soldiers also rebelled against British rank in Meerut. This Great struggle of 1857 which can also be called Sepoy Mutiny marked the beginning of new era for Freedom movement in the country.

But in the just next year 1858, India was totally under control of British movement under the British Crown in London.

The duration of 1858-1947 the country was governed by the Britishers with their representatives as Governors-general and Viceroys who were posted in almost every state of the country. This homogenous torture and discrimination toward Indians in their own Homeland kept the situation worse over the time.

Again it was 1919 when ‘Jallianwala Bagh massacre’ which is also known as Amritsar Massacre took place in Jaliawala Bagh of Amritsar, Punjab to protest the arrest and deportment of two national leaders SATYA PAL and Dr. SAIFUDDIN KITCHLEW, along with Baisakhi pilgrims ‘Non-Violently.

Many of the people who were gathered there for that protest were from outside the city and were unaware of the imposition of Martial Law in the city which prohibited the gathering of many people together in Public places.

But unfortunately, the General ‘Reginald Dyer’ order the troops to open fire the merchant guns into the crowd and the entry and exit gate of that place where the meeting was going on were only one with narrow passage hence all the people were killed, Many by Guns and Many by Stampede.

This event shook the people and led another non-corporation movement and protest against the incident in the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. Protesters refused to buy the British goods and materials and decided to purchase the local handicrafts and Picket Liquor Shops in the Country which was made by a countryman.

There appeared so many leaders over the time to boost the revolt and had a markable contribution and sacrifice contribution for India’s Freedom fight. The prominent names include Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Subhas Chandra Bose, Vijayalaxmi Pandit, Chandrasekhar Azad, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Sukhdev, Sarojini Naidu, Sardar Vallbhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru and many more and their struggle really and ultimately brought the change and led to the freedom of India against the British rule.

Bagging Independence……………

In the month of February 1947; the British Prime minister ‘Clement Attlee announced that his Government probably would grant complete self-Governances to British of India by the month of June 1948 and this will be the final date. The new Viceroy, Lord Mountbatten postponed that date for the transfer of power believing that the continuous Contention between the Congress and Muslim League might lead to the collapse of the interim government.

He was the one who chose 15th August for this which was Japan’s surrender date in the world in the World War II.

However, the price of Indian Independence resulted in the dominion of Independent India into two Parts (Country) as INDIA and PAKISTAN.

The constitution assembly of India met for the last 5th session on 14th August at 11 pm at the Constitution Hall in New Delhi. The session was chaired by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of India.

In this session the first Speech was delivered by the first Prime minister of Independent India which motivated millions of Indian.

Let new India arise out of peasants’ cottage, grasping the plough, out of huts, cobbler and sweeper.

If yet your blood does not rage, then it is water that flows in your veins.
For what is the flush of youth,
if it is not of service to the motherland.

Freedom is never dear at any price.
It is the breath of life.
What would a man not pay for living?

May the sun in his course visit
no land more free, more happy,
more lovely,
than this our country!

One individual may die for an ideas,
but that idea will,
after his death,
incarnate itself in a thousand lives.

15 August Speeches in English

Oratory is a beautiful art and it becomes even more special when you present the words of intellectuals on the day when the nation celebrates the freedom. You will get all the beautiful speeches here which you can present at the school’s function.

India got independence on 15th of August in 1947 from the British rule. After independence we got our all the fundamental rights in our own Nation, our Motherland. We all should feel proud to be an Indian and admire our fortune that we took birth on the land of an Independent India. History of slave India reveals everything that how our ancestors and forefathers had worked hard and suffered all the brutal behavior of Britishers. We cannot imagine by sitting here that how hard the independence was for India from the British rule. It took sacrifices of lives of many freedom fighters and several decades of struggle from 1857 to 1947. An Indian soldier (Mangal Pandey) in the British force had first raised his voice against Britishers for the independence of India.

Later several great freedom fighters had struggled and spent their whole life only for getting freedom. We can never forget the sacrifices of the Bhagat Singh, Khudi Ram Bose and Chandra Sekhar Azad who had lost their lives in their early age just for fighting for their country. How can we ignore all the struggles of Netaji and Gandhiji. Gandhiji was a great Indian personalities who taught Indians a big lesson of non-violence. He was the one and only who lead India to get freedom with the help of non-violence. Finally the result of long years of struggle came in front on 15th of August 1947 when India got freedom.

We are so lucky that our forefathers have given us a land of peace and happy where we can sleep whole night without fear and enjoy whole day in our school or home. Our country is developing very fast in the field of technology, education, sports, finance and various other fields which were almost impossible before freedom. India is one of the countries rich in nuclear power. We are going ahead by actively participating in the sports like Olympics, Commonwealth games and Asian games. We have full rights to chose our government and enjoy largest democracy in the world. Yes, we are free and have complete freedom however we should not understand ourselves free of responsibilities towards our country. As being responsible citizens of the country, we should be always ready to handle any emergency condition in our country.

Is there ought you need that my hands withhold,
Rich gifts of raiment or grain or gold?
Lo ! I have flung to the East and the West
Priceless treasures torn from my breast,
And yielded the sons of my stricken womb
To the drum-beats of the duty, the sabers of doom…..”
The Gift of India

Whenever the children see
There’s a flag in hands wee.
Moving all in a row
pretty discipline do they show

Patriotic at the heart
Move on they very fast
White, Saffran and green
A lot do the colours mean
Be dynamic, tells the wheel
For thy nation,
proud feel
May our flag fly aloft
For it’s valuable most.
