Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been hospitalized for last nine weeks in AIIMS. His health condition has worsened now. The statement released by AIIIMS states that former PM in on life support system.
Vajpayee is 93-year-old and was the 10th Indian Prime Minister. He was hospitalized on June 11 due to kidney tract infection, chest congestion, and lower urine output.
The statement was issued by AIIMS hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited AIIMS on Wednesday evening to check on the health condition of the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
As per the reports PM Modi reached the around 7.15 pm on Wednesday and stayed there for 50 minutes. This was his 4th visit to the hospital. Since Vajpayee was admitted in AIIMS.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and BJP president Amit Shah visited Atal Bihari Vajpayee today. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be flying to Delhi later today to visit Vajpayee.
Former Prime Minister is being treated under the supervision of Dr. Randeep Guleria, a pulmonologist and currently the Director of AIIMS. Dr. Guleria has been the personal physician to Atal Bihari Vajpayee for over 3 decades now.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was elected thrice as the prime minister between 1996 and 1999. He is the only non-Congress prime minister to complete the full term of 5years, from 1999 to 2004.
Due to his deteriorated health, he had withdrawn himself from public life and was living in confinement of his residence for years.
