The security arrangement for 141st Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is already in place. The police department will be deploying more than 20,000 personnel for this year’s 1.5 km –long procession.
The Yatra will begin on 14 July and people participating will cover 15 Km during their 11 hours journey to Jagannath temple in Jamalpur area in Ahmedabad.
Rath Yatra 2018- What all will you see in the Procession
The procession of Rath Yatra 2018 includes 101 trucks, 18 elephants, 30 akhadas, 3 rash mandals, 18 bhajan mandals and 3 chariots.
The ritual of symbolic cleaning the path of Rath procession called Pahind vidhi will be conducted by Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat at the ancient 400-year-old Jagannath temple.
Rath Yatra 2018- Security Arrangement
The Police department has made the details security plan after considering each aspect of the Rath Yatra. More than 20,000 men in uniform will be deployed during the possession. They will make sure that the occasion takes place without any disturbance.
This deployment includes the city commissioner, 3 special commissioners, 5 IGs and DIG-level officers, 31 superintendents of police, 88 assistant police commissioners, 253 police inspectors, 819 sub-inspectors, 14270 constables and 5400 home guards.
Besides the police security arrangement 22 companies of SRP, 25 companies of Paramilitary force, 1 team of Chetak Commando, 30 Quick Responses Teams and 10 teams of Bomb Squad will also be present on 14 July.
Israeli Balloon for Rath Yatra 2018 surveillance
For the first time, the police will be using Israeli helium Balloon equipped with a high-resolution camera to keep a vigilant eye on the Jagannath rath yatra 2018.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, J K Bhatt, asserts “a helium balloon with a high-resolution camera can keep an eye on the area of around five kms, which is “much better” than camera-mounted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), popularly known as drones.”
“We had used camera-mounted drones in the past during the rath yatra for air surveillance. This time, we have decided to use an Israeli helium balloon having a camera attached to it. From a height of 300 meters in the sky, this balloon camera would cover an area of 5 Km,” he added.
The camera comes with night vision and will keep an eye on the most sensitive area of the city.
Rath Yatra 2018- 150 CCTV Cameras Installed
The police department has installed 150 CCTV cameras at 99 points to capture the Rath Yatra Route for security purpose. These cameras will be sending back high-quality details to the control room so that cops can be vigilant all the time.
In the area where CCTV is not installed mobile cameras installed on vehicles and 20 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will be used to cover those areas.
Rath Yatra 2018- 400 Volunteers to help in City Traffic Management
The local leaders will be helping the police department with managing the traffic of all the routes from where the procession will be passing.
400 local people will be managing the task along with the police personnel.
Rath Yatra 2018- Timings
The Rath Yatra will commence from the Jagannath temple in Jamalpur areas at 7 am on July 14, 2018, and will be back at the temple around 8:40 pm.
