In a recent report, it has been revealed that the JioMoney app is exposing and sharing user data, the user’s information which is being shared includes, Aadhaar number, date of birth, and mPIN of JioMoney, e-wallet-app of Jio.
The existing problem was reported by an app user CS Akshay. Akshay was facing the problem with the service of e-wallet. He started the analysis of JioMoney code and discovered the number of loopholes in the code.
These loopholes were responsible for exposing the data of the user. Akshay formed a microsite to address this problem, but he took it down after receiving the call from Jio.
Jio has however denied any confirmation on this issue. The company’s statement stated “We have come across an unverified and unsubstantiated claim of personal data of JioMoney users being exposed. We confirm that there is no such issue in JioMoney. Prima facie, the claims appear to be mischievous attempts to malign our services. We assure our users that their data is safe and maintained with the highest security.”
Earlier in 2017, a user named Imran Chimppa based in Rajasthan broke the code and easily took out the data of users only by using the phone numbers.
Although he was arrested for setting up the website and exposing the data.
