Mumbai received the heavy rain showers disrupting the routine life of people. The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Mumbai office has predicted that the heavy rain showers will continue till Thursday. South Madhya Maharashtra will be facing heavy rains. The Maximum temperature will be 29 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 23 degree Celsius.
The city has already started witnessing the water logging and traffic problems. Roads at places including Mithi River Bridge in Kurla and Kalina, Santacruz Chembur Link Road, Dadar Hindmata and Kurla are facing traffic jam due to waterlogging.
The route of around 50 BEST buses has been diverted to avoid waterlogged roads. Mumbai airport operations have not been affected by the rainfall yet. A Western Railway spokesperson asserted “Western Railway Suburban trains are running with no disruption. There is a slight delay due to low visibility in some areas due to rains.”
2 people died and five got injured on Sunday due to a tree falling accident near Metro Cinema at MG road in South Mumbai’s Marine Lines area.
90 mm rainfall have been recorded in South Mumbai’s Colaba and 195 mm rainfall was recorded in Santa Cruz around 5:30 am. Sion station also saw water logging which resulted in 5-7 minutes delay of train services as per central railways.
Uttar Pradesh line between Bhilad and Sanjan in Mumbai division got affected around 7:45 am. Although suburban train service was not disrupted.

11:12:23 (IST) – heavy rainfall recorded
“The Santacruz weather station recorded 231.4 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. So much rainfall is categorized as extremely heavy showers,” IMD Mumbai Director Ajay Kumar told PTI.
Morning traffic was disrupted badly. Many areas in the city saw a bad traffic jam due to waterlogging.

Mumbai police tweeted saying that the traffic was shut down at Khar subway in Santacruz because of waterlogging. The traffic is diverted to link road.

Areas which are flooded includes:
- Milan Subway in Santacruz
- Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon
- Filter Pada and Moraji Nagar in Powai
- SV Road in Andheri
- National College in Bandra
10:09(IST) Wall collapsed
Antop hill witnessed a wall collapse in Wadala area in south Mumbai. However, no injuries were reported.

Mumbai Heavy Rainfalls
This is yet another year when Mumbai is facing all the challenges due to heavy rainfall. This problem does not get resolved completely and bring the city to halt every year at the time of rainfall.
