Ivanka Trump, advisor and daughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, arrived in Hyderabad early on Tuesday to attend the three-day Global Entrepreneur Summit (GES) at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) in Madhapur.
Ivanka, who is leading a high-level delegation of American women entrepreneurs, was received by Telangana IT secretary Jayesh Ranjan and US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. NITI Ayog CEO Amitabh Kant and US consul general in Hyderabad Katherine B Hadda along with a host of senior officials of the Telangana government were also present.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the summit at 3pm and will later host the dinner at Taj Falaknuma Palace which is a royal residence that was converted in the last decade into privately-owned hotel.
Senior White House advisor Ivanka Trump will keynote the conference and spend 36 hours in the city attending the dining with the Indian Prime Minister and, potentially, sightseeing. Her 350 -member delegation, includes top administration officials and a large number of Indian-Americans, will also feature 1200 young entrepreneurs, mostly women.
PM Modi, on his trip to US in June, himself invited Ivanka for the GES which is going to be held for the fist time in India. Ivanka would be interacting with entrepreneurs during four sessions. While interacting with the reporters last week she said, “The Theme of the three-day summit is ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’, demonstrates the commitment of Trump’s administration to the principle that when women are economically empowered, their communities and countries thrive.”
She will meet External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at HICC and will participate in a panel discussion on opening up opportunities for women entrepreneurs with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
