The National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (Main) or JEE (Main) will be conducted twice a year. The announcement was made by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Saturday, July 7th.

He said that these entrance exams will be conducted twice a year. Another announcement was regarding the changing authority of National Eligibility Test (NET). Now the NET will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) instead of the CBSE.

NEET and JEE (Main) Exams- Will be held in different Months

Next year JEE mains examination will be held in the month of January and the NEET exam will be held in February and May. And the NET will be held in December from next session.

However, the syllabus and rest of the procedure remain unchanged for all of these examinations. Candidates can attempt both JEE exams and NEET examination and based on their best score they will be given admission in either of these courses.

The exams will be conducted on different dates instead of just one day and it will be conducted online.

NEET and JEE Exams- Why Twice in a year?

In the press conference, Javadekar said, “National Testing Agency was approved by the Union Cabinet in November 2017 as an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational Institutions.”

Explaining this move of holding up the exams twice in a year Javadekar said that it will hold candidates in preparing for the exam in the much better way. It will give them time plus it will lower down the stress level in students.

NTA Exam Practice Centers

The NTA is planning to set up exam practice centers in the rural areas. Students can practice for exams here without any paying any costs. The NTA will also be conducting National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT).

Mainly it will give students a good amount of time to prepare for board exams and competitive entrance exams.

Political Parties form the Tamil Nadu is already criticising the move saying that this new pattern will confused students and that the old method was fine enough.
